Frequently asked questions
Will it run on my computer?
The software will run on any IBM PC compatible computer with a CD drive. The CD-ROM has been tested on Windows 95, 98, 2000 and XP Professional. The program will run on a 'Pentium' 133Mhz processor with an 8X CD drive, but a faster system is recommended. It requires a sound card and a minimum display size of 800 x 600 'true colour' (24 bit) display setting. For 17" screens or larger 1024*768 looks best. It will run with a 'high colour' (16 bit) setting but some loss of colour depth may be experienced.

Do I need Internet access ?

Does it take up much space on my hard drive ?
'Footsteps of Discovery' runs from the CD ROM and does not take up any permanent space on your hard drive. About 50Mb of temporary space is required when running.

Will I have seen these photographs before ?
Although some of the scenes may be familiar, all the photographs used are original and were taken especially for this product.

What authoring system was used to build 'Footsteps of Discovery in the Northern Lake District'?
We used 'Hyperstudio 4', the award winning multimedia authoring system from Robert Wagner Publishing Inc, (a Sunburst Technology Company) . This product is available in the UK from TAG Learning

Can I use the images for backdrops?
Yes, many of the images are large enough to fill an 800*600 screen as one image. The photographic images are in JPEG format and in many cases would have to be converted into an appropriate bitmap. This is a relatively simple operation. If you would like a larger image contact us through this web site.
